Scotland 2002 Defender 110 Td5 HT Coniston Green
tyres
Hi guys on the rear axle of my 110 I have two half worn tyres but one is giving me bother can I put my new same pattern spare tyre on and leave half worn on other side with no problems regarding diff or half shafts as in number of turns each tyre takes as it goes along road thank you les. sorry new to this forum should have been in tyres and wheel forum

Mechanically there is nothing to stop you Thumbs Up

However, for the sake of one tyre I'd replace both and keep it all nice and balanced - it'll also help to keep it more predictable during heavy wet weather braking (just MHO).

I agree with Riccarton. You say they're all 5 years old and getting worn, replace the pair on the axle.

Have a very, very good look at your tyres between the tread blocks and close to the rim. Looking for cracks.


Salt encourages degradation of tyres, as noticed you are in Scotland so assume they use road salt come winter time

Hi, I'd also go with Riccarton, but also check over the tyres as per leeds' reply.

If funds are tight you could replace the iffy half worn tyre with a new tyre to match the spare and put these two on the axle. Then put the good half worn on the spare, this way you only need to buy one tyre.
