My Explorer scout unit went out a few years ago, they got a ferry to the faroe Islands and then a ferry to Iceland. That was with a minibus+trailer, and probably the most cost effective option at the time, if slow.


I went at the start of last year for a week, just as a holiday, and did some tours with the superjeep guys. Fantastic time! And they know how to make a slightly nuts truck. The bus shown, and the man 8x8 cousin actually cause everyone else some issues because they're so big and heavy they tear the ground up something chronic!

OK - Just jealous now. Makes my wild camping plans in Scotland feel like a wet weekend in Brighton. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.
