As some of you are aware i rebuilt or reconditioned a 4.2V8 from a Range Rover Classic LSE For a previous defender project, which was fitted, engine run etc. for about 100 miles max as rest of Land Rover was not fit to be put through MOT, only for project to be sold but couldnt part with the engine. It has been sitting in my garage taking up alot of room for nearly six months and i dont think i will drop it into current Defender so its up for sale.......
Thread below details some of the work carried out photographic evidence and so on http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30606.html Short video of it running on page 4 of this thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28714-45.html Although i dont profess to be a mechanic, a mate of mine is with over 30 years experience, every nut and bolt was checked and torqued by him and he kept me right every step of the process. Basic run down as follows Engine had tapet noise when i bought it thinking it was worn hydraulic lifters, turned out to be a bent push rod so embarked on a top end rebuild, engine was stripped down, including sump removal to visually check bottom end and oil pic up for debris Ordered £750 plus of kit from RPI engineering who know Rover V8s very well, should still have a reciept somewhere, included all new gaskets seals etc, new valves push rods, hydraulic lifters kent duplex timing chain and most importantly high lift camshaft. New water pump and starter also fitted. Rebuild completed as per link to thread and married up to ZFHP22 auto box which also has been serviced in terms of filters and oil new kick down cable, Mocal auto gearbox cooler plumbed to fit defender. Price below includes V8 radiator plus pipes, exhaust headers, ECU, engine wiring loom, altenator and dual electric fan kit. I ran this engine when in previous project 100 miles or so, electric fans do a great job on keeping temp of V8 down. Although this is not a professional rebuild its as near as, with money spent where necessary and proof of the work that has been carried out, i can send copy of reciept, when i find it, and a few extra pics for anyone interested. What i would consider for swaps or swaps plus cash, maybe you have a few of these items.....
Pair of XS seats new take off Rear bench seats, preferably Wolf style including belts etc BF Goodrich MT or AT 265 or 285s set of Michelin 7.50 R16 XZLs set of Winch bumper and winch (Warn or Superwinch) Defender 200tdi Engine complete 110 Galvanised Chassis 110 Soft top canvas Acoustic matting or rubber matt for seat box etc LT77 Anything ex military or MOD in terms of panels, wings, doors, etc. Sankey wide track trailer including Nato hitch Or random stuff like Specialized or similar brand road bike. Anything Radio Controlled with a petrol engine, land sea or air. If you are seriously interested in V8 either make me a sensible offer or let me know what you have to swap im willing to do a deal but not desperate either, V8 can sit another few months as not getting any hurt where it sits.
