A ultra dumb cyclist!!!
A truly thick cyclist thinks he truly owns the road!!!I should QUICKLY add,I also cycle to work every day

But it does nokt mean I would happily run over an ignorent bike rider, like him!! Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

I think that the biker is probably in the right?

Personally I'd approach with more care etc but that's not to say the biker is in the wrong (in my opinion).
I tend to agree with you but I'm a little on the fence with this one.

Cyclist is clearly in the wrong in my humble opinion.

Cyclist goes in to a right hand turn lane, across hatched road markings overtaking cars!
If it was a motor bike or car doing this they would be prosecuted.
The car pulling out may have been flashed to come out by the stationary traffic.
Hard to judge by one camera angle only.
No one was hurt so thats the best outcome. 110XS CSW TD5.

Technically maybe 50 : 50 but as a cyclist who survived 15 years in London, clocking up just over 30,000 miles
my judgement here would be against the Cyclist... Shocked

The problem with too many cyclists is that they don't stick to the highway code themselves but expect everyone else to make allowances for them while they disregard the "law".

In that example the cyclist is overtaking, first using a filter lane and then on chevrons, both illegal manoeuvres that, were you to try in a car you'd get pulled over for, and then expects the motorist emerging from the left and turning right to anticipate someone riding in the wrong place, on the wrong side of the road, shielded by the cars he's overtaking, and anticipate someone being there.

I spent many years commuting into cities on a motorbike and the main reason I survived when a number of my friends didn't was that I never expected other road users to avoid me or even see me. If you put yourself in a high risk situation it shouldn't be a real surprise when occasionally the risk doesn't pay off. If you are going to do something unexpected, how on earth can you expect other road users to "expect" you to do that ?

Far too many cyclists (and a good number of motorcyclists, it has to be said) seem to think that it's other road users' responsibility to make allowance for them when they do stupid and/or illegal things. The advent of the "safety" camera has made things a lot worse as a small minority seem to actually go out of their way to provoke incidents so they can post it on youtube. It sometimes seems that people with cameras on their helmets/bars pull the stupidest stunts either to deliberately cause something "interesting" to happen or because they think that having a camera is like wearing a personal force field.

If you ARE going to pull silly stunts to get where you are going a few seconds earlier, make sure other road users have seen you and don't bitch about it when it goes tits up because you took a gamble and it didn't pay off this time. Being a lifelong cyclist......and working in the cycle trade, I never bother to watch these types of videos.

Some cyclists look for trouble....especially those with cameras.

Cyclist is in the wrong... overtaking more than one vehicle at a time is considered dangerous driving. Overtaking at a junction. Overtaking automatically means you take responsibility if you are doing the overtaking... also, he should be shot for having only two wheels.... i'm not biased Rolling with laughter

Is it ? I'm not trying to be an ass, but considered dangerous driving by who ? where does it say overtaking one car at a time is the acceptable practice and otherwise its dangerous ?

I do it regularly on A roads where I would deem it safe to do so regarding visibility conditions etc.

The Danger as I see it when overtaking a line of cars is some A-Hat pulling out without looking/indicating/caring that someones already performing a manoeuvre, A lady I knew at work used the phrase " I pulled out to overtake WHEN IT WAS MY TURN and got hit from beind by some guy overtaking from the back of the line. 3 Landrovers

Its not illegal as it turns out, but it is considered dangerous driving due to the inherent increased risk that another vehicle will pull out to overtake.

The rules stick to three principles, Is it Safe, Is it legal, Is there an advantage. Only if all three of these are true can you explore the possibility to overtake.

The problem is that you should only over take one vehicle at a time, returning to the left correct position after each overtake and accessing the next. If you can asses, that as you prepare to pass each vehicle, you can see that, A, they are not indicating, B, they are not 'looking' to overtake, and C, they would gain no advantage from overtaking.

Add to this that rule 169 dissallows any large or slow moving vehicle from holding up traffic, it stipulates that the slow moving traffic must pull in to let other road users pass and only continue to move away when it is safe to do so.

You can see the issue here...

If you can honestly say you know that:

A) The vehicle at the front is not about to pull in,(169)
B) That it is safe to pass each and every vehicle as you have assessed them all individually and at the time of passing
C) That no other vehicle in front would gain an advantage from the overtake
D) That if they are not overtaking then one of the following must apply, That it is not safe, that it is not legal,
E) That they will break rule 169 and not pull in shortly as a result of them holding up other traffic

If you make the overtake, you automatically take full responsibility for any accident due to its inherent risk..

If you do it in front of a police car, marked or not, they will pull you over...
