Higher pressure up front than on the back
Hi guys,

I picked up my summer tyres (Goodyear Wrangler MT/R) yesterday and the mechanic told me to increase the pressure on the front tyres as he knows that I am driving mainly on our quite steep and curvy mountain roads in order to reduce uneven tyre wear. Following his tip I have them at the moment on the front at 3 bar and on the back at 2.5 bar. As this is the exact opposite of what LR is recommending, I'd like to ask what you're thinking about this setup. Maybe one thing to mention: 90% of the time I'm driving my 90 with little to no load in the back (max. 50-60kg, no passengers).
For the moment it feels pretty good on the road. . _____

That seems like a fairly high pressure to me, I'm running the other way about with 7.50s on my 110. About 38F, 40R which is 2.6/2.8Bar.

Until you get to ridiculous pressure then higher will wear the tyres a little less, improve fuel economy etc. but at the expense of a harsher ride.

Presumably you spend about as much time going up hills as down hills otherwise you'd end up in space so my stupid brain can't see how that would affect the wear?

I guess his tip related to our mountain roads was mainly due to the fact that there are many U-turns where you would end up using the outside threads of the tyres much more than the ones in the middle.

The pressure itself with 3 bar seemed a little high to me as well, but for now they don't drive any harsher than the Nokian Hakkapeliitta with 2 bar front and 2.6 bar rear (as far as I could tell from the 20km I've done so far). . _____

Nearly always normal to increase the pressure on the front wheels. For no other reason than when you apply the brakes 980% of the vehicle weight is applied to the front axle??? Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
