L110CDL I have a MadMan EMS2 it's several gauges in one including a Exhaust Gas Temp. Happens to be 'Leeds' company who is the UK distributor

As far as I know my FIO hasn't been touched interesting how you get such a low reading

Drilled a hole in the EGR Blanking Plate, welded bung to plate, fitted to manifold, wired it up - worked first time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also have a one box, big(ish) bore exhaust and recently adjusted the tappets. These two things will help keep the temp in check.

Kool think I will hold off on the exhaust till it either fails ( looks newish) or I get a hybrid or VNT turbo

The higher number (temperature) means the engine is burning fuel more efficiently AFAIK.
More fuel = more power until you get to about 750 degC when it all potentially starts melting turbo inards, pistons, valves, etc.
It's a case of how close you wish to sail to the wind! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not 100% LRMud. LR says the Tdi should not go above 720 other wise damage will occur normally the exhaust manifold warps first. Also a better burn can actually reduce EGT but there is shed loads that go into it. Fitting a better performing Intercooler and tweeking fueling will bring down the EGT but increase MPG and BHP and Torque!!

Before you start any mods you should really get a base line so get the tappets done fresh oils and filters and drive it see how it feels and if possible see what oil pressure and temp your getting along with boost ( 300Tdi measured at the plenum chamber / manifold should be max 0.9/1 Bar or 14psi ) and EGT. This will let you know if you need to sort anything out first like stuck turbo actuator or leaking air hoses, dirty injectors. Once your happy everything is running right then you can play with bits.

The most common and cheapest as it's free is tweeking the Fuel Injection Pump FIP. Then the turbo actuator. Maybe fit a boost pin after that. Then your into uprated Intercooler, Teeeked head and finally Hybrid or VNT turbo. . there is quiet a few things sources about and just because it might not be about a LR Tdi doesn't mean it's wrong as long as it's a Turbo Diesel

Thanks for both of your answers Thumbs Up I have had the pump tweaked slightly and got a uprated intercooler on and have got a SS Double S exhaust, from front to back, no middle box on and she really sounds good on tick over Thumbs Up she goes really well Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
