I agree with you 100%
They give the most inconsistent handling for a not very aggressive tyre, to the point of being dangerous in my opinion. The General Grabber TRs previously used were far superior on road. The £255ish pounds for the Goodyear Wrangler MTRs was well worth while; as they are considerably better on road. For me the CCCs are a immediate sale item. Mark. |

Agree also and not just on Defenders.
When new, my Navara came equipped with them. Horrendous in the wet, so unpredictable as to when they'd let go. Changed to GGs at first opportunity-no problems since (30,000 miles and still barely worn) He who dies with the most toys...wins! |

Hello
Coming from 'normal cars' I've generally always spent money on good tyres, and my Defender has CC all round from new. This is my first defender so nothing to compare. However I do the same journey to work that I was doing in my Merc with Pirelli P zero no profiles tyres. I Have had no issues, wet, dry or muddy country roads making progress (as they say on the advance driver course) I feel far more confident in any wet, damp or muddy conditions than in the merc (auto, rear wheel drive large engine). So I have absolutely no issues. |

I have just changed from Michelin latitude cross to continental cross. The Michelins were excellent tyres for on road grip, (I could throw my 110 round a roundabout relatively fast). No doubt I will soon find out any limitations with the continentals.

I also like Conti's,absolutely no problems with normal driving. If your *"pushing the envelope" every time you may have problems.
*Sorry, heard it once on Top gun, can't get it out of my head. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

Pushing the envelope in a Defender.... at least a std one there is not much envelope to push
Don't get me wrong I can make progress but....its all relative. Still have no issue with them though, If I want to have fun round roundabouts and twisty's I will take the wife's roller skate |

Wife has a nice sporty car too,
I did say relatively, but still when you have been driving defenders for 25 years its surprising how fast you can drive them and how far they will lean and wobble without letting go. |

I absolutely love the continental CC, far superior IMHO to the horrendous GG TR that preceded them as tyre of choice from LR. The GG TRs were just terrible at everything, oh no hang on they did excell at keeping the slugs from reaching the rhubarb... But the is it... Awful...
The CCC tyres are brilliant on road as a daily driver, super when fully loaded and overlanding, great in sand and muddy fields and I highly predictable in the wet too. They also wear really well too. The only negative is that when they are in their last third of tread the performance seems to decrease marginally, but the same can be said for any tyre. Anyone getting rid of their CCCs please feel free to send them on my way... |

No idea on the Conti's, however, I certainly wouldn't rate GG TR's as good tyre's either!
BFG however, they are excellent, can't fault them! |

I run KM2's I find even though they are off road biased they are better on road than GG's were.
Anyone compared GG's and Conti's and driven both? GG's were fidgety too as described above. |

Conti were my tyre of choice, mine behaved impeccably both on and off road, couldn't fault them in any way.
Only recently changed to Cooper AT3's as i wanted 265/75's, and the Conti's only came in 235/85 ... otherwise they would still be fitted Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Everyone will obviously have their own preferences and ideas of what suits them. But I can categorically state that a standard defender on 235/85 r16 tyres, is far more stable on the road with GG TRs than with CCCs, be it wet or dry.
