Rear window heating element
Hello everyone,

My son noticed these on both contacts of the rear window heating element.
Would appreciate if some of you could take a look at yours and let me know if this is the norm for a 2 month old Defender or should I be speaking to LR?

It actually looks worse than in the pics.

My 2005 110 has the same darkening around the contacts, though maybe not as defined as yours

is heating element working ok ? i say back to LR fix under warranty

Mines like it too (2014) and has been almost since new.

Works fine so I've not had anything done about it - they have a habit of going in to have one fault fixed and coming back with two more Big Cry

But if it bugs you, certainly worth talking to the dealer.

I have never used the heated rear window on my 2015 90 (!) but my heating elements are more or less like yours. I assumes that, on this area, a specific treatment or sandpapering is made when the connectors are welded.

Since mine are not as dark as yours, I would suggest that, on this specific area, heat eventually changes the colour of the treatment or, if it comes from sandpapering, it helps a kind of oxidation to appear. Anyway, in my opinion, this is only on the surface and it shouldn't be serious ...

It's heat dissipation in the copper. Quite normal in my opinion so long as it doesn't get super hot and works correctly.
