Hi Gents,
Following a burglary and a car theft within 4 months of each other I'm a little paranoid about my 90 to say the least and this has probably come up before but I want to upgrade the security on it as I'm losing too much sleep curtain twitching etc. I've read conflicting reports on the std alarm and really don't mind fitting a new additional one but have also read this may cause problems itself. Whats the best alarm to fit (subjective I know) and why ?? I was looking for something that has its own battery back up sounder which can be installed alongside the original and has interior sensors as when my Fiesta ST went they popped the dr glass as it didn't have interior sensors. I've also seen some trackers that will cut out the car when the brakes are first applied, does anyone have any experience of this or similar system and their opinions please ?? Thanks, Mark |

A decent tracker or two. You pay for what you get so choose wisely.
A case of diminishing returns, the best security is several layers not reliant on a single alarm. Have a search on the forum for security layers. I suspect therein may lie the solution to your sleepless nights perhaps? Mine neither.....
A few ideas all available information on the forum..... Ignition barrel lock, pedal lock, tracker, BBUS, lamp guards with tamper proof screws, ball bearings in door hinge bolts, panoramic glass (if you have a SW or sliding windows), OBD relocation, quick-release steering wheel, Disklock, alarmed vehicle cover if it is not in a garage at home, the list goes on an on, but the key period seems to be 2 minutes, multiply this by several layers and their eagerness will hopefully wane as statistics would make you believe. Anything is better than nothing. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Reading this the biggest improvement would be don't live in Liverpool
Seriously, I'm looking at the same and going with Skytag as a tracker and Smartwater Probably then putting a Clifford 650 on it The issue I have is that the Def costs £10K and all the mods that they want to nick come in at £5K probably Nothing will stop them nicking the lights, wheels, wheel carrier and if they want my Def they will get it, either by lifting it onto a trailer or just stripping it outside. It is insured and although I will be off, unfortunately its life nowadays You buy it to enjoy it, not spend ten minutes getting in and out of it Its covered on the drive by an infrared light and CCTV, other than that, not sure |

Something like that maybe?
In Chile Defenders are quite few only one have been stolen in the last 10 years (knock wood). The 2nd hand spare parts market is quite reduced and most of the owners known all the 2nd hand parts seller. Different is the situation of other Asian 4x4 (SUVs) used to other crimes of other luxorious cars.
