"A Land Rover towing a portable chemical toilet on a trailer was involved in a single-vehicle crash on the A14 eastbound, at the Westley junction near Bury St Edmunds, at around 9.45am today. The collision at the central reservation caused the barrier to divide the road’s eastbound and westbound carriageways, police said. There were no injuries and the road was closed for several hours while police cleared the area, after the contents of the portable toilet, include chemical elements, leaked on to the road, while other debris was scattered across both carriageways. But a spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said five motorists were seen by officers of the scene of photographs of the incident as they drove past. They were issued with traffic offence reports and Suffolk Constabulary’s Traffic Justice Unit will consider if they committed an offence of failing to be in proper control of a vehicle, the force spokesman said. The offence carries a minimum of three points and a £100 fine, the force spokesman added. Fifteen drivers who filmed or took photos of a crash on the A14 in Girton involving a lorry carrying teddy bears were prosecuted by police in Cambridgeshire in May last year." http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/update_five_mot..._1_4458275 |
