Can someone advise how the pipe to brake servo disconnects from the vacuum pump on a 2.4 Tdci. The manual just says to disconnect it. Looks like it's a snap connector. I have tried a light tug but don't want to break anything. Life is short, so have your pudding first

Don't you need to undo the nut?
Why do you want to remove it? |

Doing some investigation work on poor braking.
Did undo the brass nut today, then spent 10 mins looking for the spring and little ball that fell out. IIRC pull on the pipe whilst pushing on the brass connector that it's pushed into. one of those moments you think it might brake but it doesnt

Ball, spring and cone shot out of the connection on the vaccum pump. Which way round did you replace them???? (Mine is a 2009, 2400cc engine) Thanks, Dave |

Click image to enlarge Make sure the plastic cone is properly located in the recess in the pump body before assembling the spring and ball. I suspect I didn't, consequently I only have half the original cone. I suspect it went inside the pump. I fitted my spare new one today. Warning to others - don't undo the brass fitting. Push the collet in and pull the plastic vacuum pipe out |

Thanks soooo much for the picture and advice. Not easy to get the spring and ball back in the right place with the pump on the car, but I managed it. All back together and working well!! I come from Penistone, just across the Pennines from you. Thanks again and again, Dave |

Hello did you have any luck with your braking issue? I had a vacuum pump fail on me and have since replaced it but brakes are now not the same and having issues. Mainly when I use the brakes in quick concession I end up with a hard pedal and little braking power

Mine is a 90. The brakes are probably as good as it gets with standard components. I replaced most of the parts e.g. rear discs, callipers and pads, front pads, front and rear hoses, master cylinder, servo, pressure reduction valve (not on a 110), new fluid.
Bear in mind the vacuum pump and servo are there to assist pedal pressure. I can't really help with your particular problem but I'm sure there are others on this forum who may have experienced your braking symptoms and can suggest a solution. |
