Get yourself along to a local shoot and offer your services as a beater. It will take a season or two of getting to know the faces on the shoot, chatting with the gamekeepers etc but the end result is knowing where the rough shooting is to be had and the all-important invite to come along. Essentially you need to serve your time helping with beating and/or picking up for that kind of shoot. The guys at your local clay shoot will be able to point you in the right direction.

Alternative is deep pockets, a FFRR and a plummy voice. Laughing

Is it the 'buck' that's in the back of the truck or the beast standing beside. I think they're both ugly as sin personally!

Are you asking for advice on a gun to buy?

If so, Beretta or Browning are good.

Personally I recently bought a Beretta Silver Pigeon 3. Good for clays and game and, apparently, as reliable as anything (it has a 10year!!!) warranty.

But - it does depend on whether you feel comfortable with it

use a winchester 3 shot semi for rough shooting. Lighter, less kick and an extra shot! Can be converted to a 6 shot if you have a FAC.

Over and under or side by side is preferred by the more organised shoots.

I personally love semi autos and pumps, most of the time I shoot a remington 1100.

Nobs is a good way of getting into a shoot http://www.nobs.org.uk/ and can probably point you in the right direction of a local shoot.
