Pretty sure Defender glass is typical 6mm laminated,it's coz it's flat and almost vertical and the top of the screen is always gonna be more vulnerable than the bottom, for no other reason than the bonnet is in the way. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Hah Jimbob you can laugh Rolling with laughter but I had that ex RAAF truck in Oz for more'n 10 years and I'm sure it said 'triple' on the windscreen and nothing could break it ... - or puncture the tyre sidewalls.
Ah well I'm in UK now there's nothing on a web search so 6mm laminate it is - any bog standard shop? Bow down
I've only been back 6 months so don't know the places yet. Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ...

So Vogue, you have no idea what object caused that very bad damage?
I think that the angle of the Defender screen has something to do with the regularity in which they can be damaged. Sinse we've had Gracie, we've needed to have two w/screen repairs (repairs, not new screen), whilst over the last 20 yrs or so in other cars, We've only had a couple?

It should have been a rather big stone which came out of the tires of the opposite car with trailer. And it smashed the screen on the most vulnerable place possible. just on the edge.

I'm purchaser for a company and my boss had a different vision of what happened. He said that I have many enemies. Whistle Very Happy

"Triple", that could be Triplex, years ago nearly all (uk) cars were fitted with triplex glass, which was bought out by Pilkington years ago.
The best I've seen is £125 for an oem new heated screen on the bay or £40 unknown brand, also some screens are tinted, best collect tho, as few peeps will (fair enough) not post glass.
Linksy,add "heated" for heated screens.

Or gets lucky an buy new/take off screen (complete with screen sticker) AND surround fer £50 Mr. Green .Think mine originally came from Ovik.Dealers want £3?? +,tho can probably source an oem Pilkington screen from most suppliers for considerably less.
If you wants thicker glass go to your nearest glazier with your old screen and he will cut one out. Can't remember or find out what thickness laminate comes in.You couldn't go much thicker tho coz of the seal and you won't have a kitemark, not gonna be cheap either. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
