Local police are investigating an incident when the rear windscreen of a Land Rover Defender was smashed on Saturday afternoon (March 5th) in Sellack, near Ross-on-Wye. It has been claimed that two men wearing face masks smashed the window, and then fled the scene, escaping through a field.
The police have confirmed that they were called at 1.33pm on Saturday, March 5th to reports of criminal damage to a Land Rover Defender in Sellack. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of how the window came to be damaged. Members of a nearby Hunt Saboteurs group have contacted the Ross Gazette, saying that the Land Rover that was damaged belonged to a member of their group. They said that people were inside the vehicle when the window was smashed, and they were showered in glass. A member of the group told the Gazette that members of South Wales Hunt Saboteurs, as well as other groups, had been monitoring the Ross Harriers Hunt on Saturday, in the Peterstow area. They said two masked men used a metal bar to smash the window of the car, and then fled the scene. They said that they called the police immediately. A member of the Ross Harriers told the Ross Gazette:“I can confirm this was brought to our attention, but I can categorically say that none of our supporters were wearing masks, or were involved in this alleged incident.” If anyone witnessed the offence, or saw any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time of the incident, please call the police on 101. The incident reference number is:0348-S-050316." http://www.ross-gazette.co.uk/article.cfm?...hyear=2016 Nasty behaviour whoever it was. |

I'm of mixed views on this and know that the anti's were specifically targeted by two men in masks who were seen with other Hunt supporters.
A few years ago I was heavily involved as a supporter of one of the fashionable packs in the Midlands and had been plagued by some tenacious anti's, we had some security advisors come and discuss what we could and couldn't do. Acts like this were a complete no-no. there are a lot more subtle ways of dealing with unwanted people on private land which keep you within the law. It is amusing and sad at the same time that the two that smashed the Defender back window had to do so in the first place but to resort to wearing masks and acting like the rural guerrillas that the bulk of these saboteurs do. Where's the war? After living through the Northern Ireland troubles and now the IS threats around the world, how can they be taken seriously? |
