Struggled to find original thread...
"The driver caught in a dashcam video carrying out a “dangerous” overtaking manoeuvre which resulted in a shocking near miss has received a six-month suspended jail term today. Philip Gordon Wearing pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court to dangerous driving in a Land Rover Discovery on the A487 in Penrhyndeudraeth in September last year. In the dashcam footage, the Land Rover can be seen pulling out and overtaking a car as several motorcyclists approach. Judge Niclas Parry told Wearing, 58, of Macclesfield, Cheshire: ”But for the grace of God you could have killed the occupants of one car and at least one motorcyclist. “That was an appalling piece of driving where you, towing a trailer, squeezed in-between traffic in your carriageway and oncoming traffic." http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wale...d-11004098 His attitude seemed quite cavalier - Wearing told police he did not think the bikers would have been alarmed or put in any danger, Mr Edwards added. Gwyn Lewis, defending, said: “No other road user made any complaint either at the time or subsequently.” Wearing, was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for a year with an extended test and must pay £1,000 costs. |

Impatience and poor driving has always been an issue, it's just that much more of it is captured for subsequent review now. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Read about this in the Welsh Daily post ‘Wearing was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for a year with an extended test. He must pay £1,000 costs.’ Glad Caernarfon Crown Court are doing things right we get to many kn*b heads both Welsh and non Welsh driving like this on our roads. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

It's not just Wales mate, they are everywhere.
I was perambulating north in the early morning at the weekend doing a steady 70 and there was a car just sat in lane two. As they sometimes do. Then it started slowing down. So I moved out and passed and the woman was facetiming holding her iphone on top of the steering wheel chatting to someone as she piloted her car along the M5. New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info |

I was told the other day that the idiots who don't take up a left hand lane position as is legally required, (i.e. the ones in the middle lane) will now be fined as it causes unnecessary traffic and is dangerous. It drives me nuts!
The guy in this video is clearly a few electrons short of a full outer shell Michael |

His driving is bad, from what is here
However, I'm more concerned if the little hitler with a dash cam thought he could convict someone on the footage...apparently there were no complaints from anyone else Mike |

So, the Disco driver was reported by the dashcam owner and subsequently charged by the police? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems that way, not by anyone else.
So if someone is slightly unhappy they complain and the police then prosecute because its easy - not the society i want to live in - regardless of the actions being right or wrong Mike |

Agree, not an ideal world, but I suppose we could look at it another way...
There is always someone watching your driving style - so, we'd all better be sensible around others or risk trial by YouTube! And, Heaven forbid I ever have an accident, I might be looking for dashcam footage from other drivers to back up my case. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1989 Defender 90 Toyota Aygo & Honda FR-V |

I always try to be the best i can be, but we all fail at some point, all make mistakes - he who lives in a glass house etc etc.
the problem with UK is this camera obsessed society, where one cant make a mistake or have a lapse in judgement without scorn being poured. Usually topped by some PC holier than thou brigade feeling they can put the boot in. Mike |

Yes the driver is a making a stupid and dangerous manoeuvre but being charged via a Civi Dash Cam I suppose no different that a scum bag being charged for theft by next doors CCTV Its if im truthful just a little unsettling |

If you were the rider of the bike, would you feel worried that a MOP's dashcam had resulted in this reckless fool being taken off the road? I don't think I would.
What is shown in that footage is not a mistake or error of judgement, it is an arrogant and impatient person making a conscious decision to act recklessly and with a disregard to the safety of other road users. Good riddance to him. |
