Supacat - lovely job, and a few pence rather than £30 Smile

Similar to my own repair

Thanks for sharing Thumbs Up

Same here, i had a piece of 1" wide aluminium flat bar in the shed, cut a length and secured it to the section that had been pulled through and mounted the bracket to it.
Once this snow has cleared i'll have a go at fitting the gwn lewis kit.

That's the idea Supacat. The only comment I have to add is that by using an adhesive you are not only sticking the components together but also forming a gasket between them which salty water should not penetrate. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

So I made a start on fitting the Gwyn Lewis mud flap brackets and splash guard kit as supplied to me by FCX.
who also win the award for the most packaging tape used on a parcel! Shocked Laughing

I haven't finished fitting them yet as between the sleet and other jobs ongoing it was slow progress.
Plus as i have a XS with chequer plate that causes a bit of fun when fitting the strengthening straps.

I managed to do it on my own but it would have been easier with a second pair of hands at times as the bolt head is in the load bay and the nut up under the tub.

I found the instructions a bit vague at times and the photos are not exactly clear.
if the weather is better next week i'll try to find the time to take some pics and explain the fitting process.

But what i can say is this is what Land Rover should have supplied in the first place not the stupidly flimsy and insecure offering they came up with.
I have all the brackets installed just have to fit the mudlaps to their hangers and put them back on.
In summary though the kit is very good and gets a Thumbs Up from me.

Hi, would applying ACF-50 (instead of an adhesive) be as effective against corrosion?
Thanks.

Not really - the ACF 50 is really a regular maintenance item; whereas the point of the sealant is to permanently seal the area from moisture ingress.

This and the other thread on this subject appear to be referencing this issue on just the 110. Is it also a problem for the 90? If so front and rear?

Not rears on 90 due to the different fixing arrangements between the models - have a look at the front of your 90 and see if the issue is similar?
