Won't turn over. Cant connect to OBD. No main beam/dip
HELP!! Major electrical gremlins!!

As title:

Won't turn over
Can't connect to OBD (I have a Hawkeye pro)
No main beam/dip

So far I have looked at the usual suspects (fuses, battery), all fine, not sure which relay is which so didn't want to just start pulling them.

Any suggestions welcomed!

It's a 2008 2.4 hard top.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Is that likely to cause multiple issues then?

Hopefully this should link to a wiring diagram:

Sounds to me like the supply to the ignition switch - does the dash "turn on" when you turn the key on? The OBD won't work until the ignition is turned on and the sidelights will work but no headlights until the ignition is turned on either.

Got there in the end.

Fitted a new starter (£150 Big Cry ) no difference.

Hooked the hawkeye to the AS10, there were about 5 immobilisers listed, one of which was enabled. Disabled it and she fired. Can connect to the ECU now too. Very Happy

Just the headlights to go Rolling Eyes

Did you fit the new starter yourself?

Given you had no power to the lights, I would have expected a garage to investigate that before swapping out a starter motor.

Not tried to do it on a Puma engine but could not not have ruled the starter motor out insitu by using jumper cables directly to it from your battery. OK the fuel pump and other systems may have prevented the engine starting but the starter motor may have kicked into life?

Ford starters are made of cheese and over worked. I reckon only a pickpocket could successfuly hit the +ve terminal without a firework display? Sorry if i misdiagnosed your fault. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Fitted myself. I upgraded to a Bosch starter anyway so no problem really. Thumbs Up

The fault came back!! Evil or Very Mad with the immobiliser kicking back in.

Got to the bottom of it (hopefully).

under driver seat is starter motor relay third one from bulk head end one side of the coil feed from ignition switch and other from ECU ind switch feed from link 5 60 amp red arrow see if this relay orange arrow is clicking then you try to start the engine if not, wiring, fuse or ECU stopping relay from operating and starter from tuning

see diagram below

YWB500060 part number from the this relay (spec for the relay is 12volt 40 amp)

if the relay is operates do you have multimeter to check volts out to the starter sol ?
see diagram below
