You only need to check and top up front and rear axle oil and clean drain plug.
Use : GEARTEX EP-C 80W-90 (Texaco) or MULTIGEAR S 75W-90 (Texaco) or CASTROL EPX 80X/90 = LR003156 Puma 90 MY 2010 (sold 2017) Defender 110 MY 2001 http://www.youtube.com/bjartin |

If its out of warranty is suggest you use a fully synthetic 75W90 gear oil in both axles and your transfer box. This is the same as the difflock evolution 2 oil and makes things run a little smoother and give better protection when the oil is cold, plus it will save some fuel too. Just be careful as most oils listed as 75W90 are semi synthetic not fully synthetic.

Pete, In SA a few guys use the Redline fully-synthetic in their gearboxes as well. In our warmer conditions it handles the heat better than the OEM stuff. Do you think we could use this in the gearbox, t-case and diffs? MT-90 75W90 GL-4 Gear Oil (http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=46&pcid=7) * 75W90 GL-4 gear oil (similar to SAE 5W40/10W40 engine oil viscosity) * Popular in Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, VW/Audi, Lotus Elise/Exige, Toyota * Offers quicker shifts, perfect synchronizer coefficient of friction * Safe for brass synchros, as it lacks the reactive sulfurs found in most GL-5 oils that cause damage * High performance gear protection and longer synchro life * Eliminates notchy shifting, even when cold * Satisifies the gear oil viscosity requirements of 75W, 80W and motor oil viscosities of SAE 40, 10W40, and 15W40 * Recommended for GL-1, GL-3, and GL-4 applications, as well as where most special synchromesh fluids are specified API Service Class GL 4 SAE Viscosity Grade (Motor Oil) 15W40 SAE Viscosity Grade (Gear Oil) 75W90 Vis @ 100°C, cSt 15.6 Vis @ 40°C, cSt 90 Viscosity Index 185 Pour Point, °C -45 Pour Point, °F -49 Flash Point, °C 240 Flash Point, °F 465 Brookfield Viscosity @ -40°C, Poise 320 |

Diff oil is every 2 years or 24k according to LR (presuming the Puma is the same as TD5)

Looks fine for the transfer box and axles but im not sure about the gearbox as i have a TD5 which uses the R380 main box but the rest of the transmission is the same. I know difflock.com are now doing oil for the puma gearbox so it may be worth a look there. Pete. |

thanks Pete. Their Evolution 3 is a fully-synthetic 75w80, which may be suitable for the EU. But I think in warmer climates, 75w90 is probably more suitable. |

I've seen on "Maintenance check sheet" for the Defender (2.4D) and it says: Renew front and rear axle oil every 80.000km Puma 90 MY 2010 (sold 2017)
