Well wouldn't you know it, I used the Defender today for my final days shooting this season and fell in love with it again.

Yes it crashed about but sometimes I guess I'm more in the mood for putting up with it.

The Dirt D Fenders really work well, no more mud up the sides of the car.

Good for you Adam Thumbs Up !! 2010 Defender 90 HT

There's no way around it, I had a D4 HSE and used it like a van, never worried about a scratch and I too scratched to beeJesus out of it on a shoot. Hated it for not feeling like a true mans toy, instead it felt like more of a family car despite how capable it was.
Bought the Defender and hated/loved/hated/loved/hated/LOVE it - I've learnt more about cars and STUFF than ever before. There's so much I want to do to it. Had lots done already and its only a year old now... Its a keeper for sure, especially as they dont make them any more! They are like women, you cant live with them, and there's always something they could do better, but, you wouldn't change them for the world... maybe one or two mods! Smile

I too am getting the new seats but going to see if they will fit with lumbar support for my broken back! High Base all the way though! Do yours go far enough back, as far as the original seats? I'm 6'2 and have my knee against the dash all the time...

So,

I've been away for the best part of a month in the US and South Africa, the Defender has not moved, and no mods have been done, but on my travels I've been reading up on Laurence's mods and improvements (Butchers Boy), which kept me entertained in hotels and airports. Thanks Laurence Thumbs Up

At the moment, the one thing I REALLY want to do, is wash it! Whilst I was in South Africa I saw huge numbers of Defenders, and in the sunshine they looked so nice and clean (most people have someone who cleans their cars every day it seems). I got home to look at mine, all dirty and purposeful, but it wants to shine!

The most exciting thing I will do in the Defender this week is to see if it starts, after sitting for three weeks!

Fingers crossed. 2016 D4 HSE

Thanks to Butchers Boy for the inspiration, Thumbs Up I've bought a set of Climair front Window Deflectors.

Not needed by everyone but I find when driving with the window just cracked open the wind blows too much in my face, plus, as I have the rear VGS glass installed and no bulkhead vents, I need some secure ventilation for the dog at times, especially on a shoot, and it will stop the windows fogging up as he is usualy wet and stinky.

It will be nice to be able to have the windows open slightly to let air in and yet no rain can get in. Simple and effective.

Bought them at Paddocks. 2016 D4 HSE

Welcome back Adam - Good to have you back Thumbs Up

I'm glad you kept an eye on the forum and that I kept you entertained Laughing

I really like my new deflectors I think they are both practicable and look great Thumbs Up

Not sure if I've told you about my these trackers I found they are great, £39.99 affordable no monthly costs the first years tracking free then £10 a year thereafter it give lots of information! I suspect they are similar to what the insurance companies fit to young drivers cars - 'black box' You can check back 90 days of history. You can see real live tracking via google maps, how fast the car has been traveling how many stops its made etc. I got the hard wire kit for an extra tenner Thumbs Up
