Been quoted £325 plus vat for everything behind the drivers door (110SW). They need it for 2 days, plus they take all the glass OUT, including the the rears, they have to cut the rubber. Does this sound right?

I got it professionally done on a 110 Utility (i.e. didn't need the rear windows doing) for £160 inc VAT.
Included the top alpine lights. Windows stayed in, |

If I remember correctly I was around £200 for my 110SW from Pentagon. They didn't take the glass out as they've has issues with the rear frames being bonded in. 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

Our 110 has tinted windows and looks much better in my opinion, however... the tint is on the internal face of the glass (rather than actually tinted glass) and has rubbed off is a couple of patches and is scratching 'lightly' when windows go up and down. I assume a retro fit tint will be similar so just wanted to make you aware of the down sides. Must say still very pleased with it, but would just prefer it was in the glass so more robust. Just be careful when you load things that they are not rubbing on the window!
On a side note, can you get tinted windows 'patched up'/repaired? |

A word of warning
Any windows that are tinted fall outside of the JLR warranty, yes that includes water ingress on the alpine windows 90 & Wolf 110 XS Previously owned SI SII SIIa SIII & Light weight (air portable) |

^ Or heater element issues from personal experience. Also the reflective properties of the film applied will mean you will virtually see bu99er all through your rear view mirror at night! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

If you are in the south of Essex, I would suggest speaking to Crow windscreens.
I've used them on both of my 110s. They take the glass out and need the car for two days too. I think it' so one to complete the work and one for the glass bonding agent for the sliding rears to cure before driving the car. There's a guy near Battlesbridge who has a good reputation amongst the Scooby set. Not used him myself, but I think he does it with the windows in and doesn't do the alpine windows - hence me going to Crow. |

There is no reason to cut any rubber seals to remove the windows. I removed all mine, (all the glass from the second row back including the alpine glass) took them to the glass shop, had them tinted and then re-installed.
You do get better quality if you have the glass out of the vehicle. Click image to enlarge it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |

Had tinted from factory...
but they were never able to provide rear door glass with tint. Considered a replacement glass then found an excellent film tinter.. Glass out..£35 and it matches the rest perfectly. I would not have the film on any moving glass http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic35268-120.html Clemmo Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow.... I'd say it's bang on. Think about it, if you're tinting a window do you want it to stop at the seal or be underneath the seal? It will look more professional, like an actually tinted window, and prevent peeling etc. I am sure those who've had it done with them staying in are just as happy, but for peace of mind, I'd go with the removal option. Given you're in Essex, consider Pentagon (already mentioned on this thread). Excellent service, excellent work, full SW done in a day. They used to be LR's recommended Tinter before it became a factory option so have done loads and 'understand' the intricacies of Defender Windows. Can't ask for better provenance than that. http://www.defender2.net/forum/post449446.html#449446 Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

You will get noticeable bounce back of headlights coming towards you, yet appearing in your rear view mirror. If you get my drift.... Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Hi Grenadier strangely enough I'm getting something like that now! I was sat behind a car last night and his brake lights appeared in my rear view mirror! Will the window tint stop this or make it worse?
