"Jaguar Land Rover has submitted plans to redevelop its site at Gaydon into a world class design and testing facility.

The move is part of the company’s plans to centralise its automotive design and product creation activities within its site at Gaydon.

The multimillion pound project will include the demolition of existing buildings and roadways and the erection of a new research, design and testing lab, and offices.

A new visitor reception building will be constructed and the existing car park will be reconfigured and extended to provide space for an additional 2,000 cars.

The company hopes creating more parking will help to prevent disruption to local roads, while environmentally friendly design and landscaping work with also be incorporated.

The company’s distribution centre, which delivers cars to dealerships in the UK and Ireland, is also being relocated to Baddesley in North Warwickshire as part of the project.

When completed the site will provide space for around 1,800 people however the majority of these will be moving from accommodation either at Gaydon or Whitley, or the company’s other Warwickshire sites.

A spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover said: “The applications relate to projects to develop world-class test laboratories as well as creating additional office space within the site’s current boundaries.

“Details shared in the planning application may change following feedback as part of the planning process and the operational requirements of the business.”

The redevelopment will support future growth at the site and is being constructed with an emphasis on employee wellbeing."
