In 2014 there has been an official warning here in the Netherlands not to use these cookers. The canister can explode if a large frying pan is used, because then the heat can't escape and the canister can become overheated.
The cookers are not forbidden here (and are stil for sale), because not every model was tested officially. I haven't come across the new gas canisters with safety valves (as shown in the video) here. I think with thougtfull care it is OK to use them - I still do... My thought was that even with the appropriate gas canister - I would not want the sort of fire created by the pressure relief valve.
I don't have one of these types of cooker but my brother does, and often cooks with his young children on camping trips. Off to make sure he scraps it. |

I'm on a couple of Ozzie camping groups on Facebook and these stoves have been mentioned before. I believe they are banned in some places. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Thanks for the heads up mate.
I will bin mine today. They are great bits of kit however... so hopefully the new 'safety' mods will do the trick... YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

Handle, store and use correctly and risk is minimum. No one gets out of here alive! TY&GN 10 years in a WOLF, WIMIK and Snatch and this is all I have to show! |

The modified safe lunchbox style cookers now do not have a removable pot rest, that you used to be able to store upside down to reduce the thickness of the cooker. New cookers have this pot rest fixed & hence are stored in a thicker case. Takes up a little more space but prevents assembly issue that can lead to the canister not locating probably. I junked my old cooker which we have had since living in South Korea 10 years ago, and bought a new one from a local camping shop.
