Well Done Aston Martin

Car is being built for Charlotte - an attractive cool young American woman - and rich; so it must be OK that I'm not quite understanding the design or why you'd trot this bloke out to try and sell it after spending so much money on brand asociation with James Bond:

"Aston Martin is to build its new luxury car in south Wales, creating 750 highly-skilled jobs.

The DBX car will be hand-made in a super hangar at St Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan.

It is a major coup for Wales, which took two years to secure the deal ahead of 20 locations across the world.
As well as attracting one of motoring's most prestigious names, it is expected to create about 1,000 jobs with suppliers and local business.

Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer called it a "momentous day for Wales" at a news conference in Cardiff on Wednesday.

The development will include a skills academy, which will make St Athan and the Vale of Glamorgan a centre of excellence.
Work on the factory will start in 2017 and production will start three years later."

Personally I think it's ugly, especially the dash! But there again, I'm no Charlotte, or rich!

I wonder what Aston Martin thought of the item on the BBC News at 18.00 yesterday, the intro showed James Bond driving on a nice hot and sunny hill road before sliding to a halt in front of the camera, glorious! Only problem, it wasn't an Aston Martin he was driving but an Alpine possibly an Alpine Tiger from the Rootes Group!

Embarassed BBC!

It's really good news for the British Motor Industry and for jobs in Wales. But, and it's a big but, it doesn't look like an SUV to me, where as the Bentley Bentaygo certainly does. There again I won't be buying one - when you already own the World's best 4 x 4 why would you want one? Defender 90XS SW

Good news for Wales...but there was something wrong with how the coverage was handled.

AM generally don't overtly play up the 007 connection but this 'executive' did and then
looked somewhat awkward, like he had to explain a joke he had just told, which nobody got... Embarassed

The Charlotte thing smacked of marketing madness, why let this thinking out into the open... Exclamation

Maybe some colour forecasting consultant said 'metallic baby blue' will be right in a few years
but somehow I doubt it... Shocked

Anyway very good to see a British Brand doing well... Thumbs Up
