Sounds like someone has 'cloned' your car, have you been to the Police to report?
I sold a Nissan Skyline GTR several years ago to a customer in Wales, there was another Skyline running around London bearing the same plates setting off speed cameras and racking up parking fines. You need to report this quickly as it could lead to all sorts of issues other wise!

^^^^ Just one of the reasons to keep registrations private from online display.

I agree, ever since that one I use a show plate / company ad plate on all my ads. Some customers question this but are fine once they are aware of why I do this Very Happy

Speak to DVLA.

There might be a very simple explanation. Once I got that letter, phoned them up, they had a quick look at the form. Err we can not read the hand written registration number clearly. Just a badly written registration number which someone could not decipher.

If it was my handwriting I could understand it.

Hi thanks for replies, will be contacting DVLA on monday, the VIN is needed to make application too, was hoping someone hasn't been ripped off buying a stolen one without logbook.

Have spoken to DVLA and they said application was made with registration and chassis number so now passed onto police.

This happened to me once with one of my vehicles that was in an allocated private parking space for over 6 months. Because I hadn't moved the vehicle somebody had "assumed" it was abandoned and approached the dvla with the vehicles details and applied for a V5 for it (claiming they had bought it without receiving the V5)
The dvla wrote to me and asked if I had sold or agreed change of keeper
Fortunately it was sorted before it got out of control, but I heard no more about it
And swiftly started to use my "abandoned" BMW M5 Rolling Eyes

G My confidence has been writing cheques that my abilities can't cash for years.

I agree entirely, it's why I never take mine outside. Better safe than sorry Wink
