Here we go again!! TD5 Double cab
After spending hours and millions of pounds rebuilding my 90 a few years back and then selling it last year i decided that despite rebuilding land rovers for a living i would not bother doing another for myself. But after 12 months of being free from a defender of my own, i have now got another Rolling Eyes

Only this time its a 110

Good points-

its a 110 double cab- whats not to like
TD5 with a new engine fitted 30000 miles ago
Drives really well, loads of grunt
4 new wheels and tyres
already got a decaf and straight through centre box (save me doing it Wink )
new safari snorkel

Bad points-

Almost every panel is damaged in some way Shocked
seats are sh*gged
chassis although rot free will be getting changed for a galv one (because why not! Wink )
oil leak, on first inspection appears to be from inlet manifold gasket but need to investigate further

Bits i'm undecided on yet-
Not sure on the front bumper although its a solid substantial bit of kit
ifor williams top of some description will be fitted for mutts but the current one is a bit past it
may spin tyres round to get rid of white writing

It will be an ongoing project as my 90 was because when i sell my Ranger it will be a daily work vehicle so cannot come off the road for any length of time. Some of the bodywork will be an issue (like the corroded rear tub mount) but will have to be sorted. I want to end up with a solid straight(ish) vehicle but it won't need to be a show queen

Things already planned-

New panels where required and when done full respray
Galv Chassis
Remap
new seats and freshen up the interior
new rear canopy of some description

But no doubt there will be much, much more to add Rolling Eyes

Cheers Steve, hows yours coming on?
Yep its fully decaf'd Mr. Green Bloody spellchecker Banging Head
They are uncomfortable, noisy, bouncy and generally horrible to drive but there is something about them that nothing else can come close to Bow down .

I have been looking at Hiluxs and other double cabs to replace my ageing Ranger but as soon as they get a dent they look awful, whereas the defenders look better with dents Very Happy

The bumper is growing on me, i think its a ARB replica of some description, but its seriously heavy duty 2000 90 TD5,galv chassis, d2 axles ,Bas remap , alisport intercooler , d2 transfer box , side windows-more to come-much more!! *GONE*

You're right about the dents in the Hilux etc, I never really never thought about it, but now you mention it....

Mine is coming along slowly, though have the bare bulkhead and rear tub fitted now, pre-dented !!

Got a couple of jobs done tonight. Stripped out the rear seats (or whats left of them) and then gave the rear a good scrub out in prep for tidying in all up Rolling Eyes

Started on the bodywork. Replaced both damaged rear 1/4 panels and cappings and also the rear body mount strip so at least it looks straight for anyone following me Laughing

Nice work on the tail section. Did you re-spot weld the rear panels or just use rivets and sealant?
