Defender accident in Guildford today
Sad to share that a defender was involved in an accident today which included a fatality - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-35622680

A little more on this sad story and it appears to be a well known road for accidents in the local area.

Thoughts as always with the families of all involved at this time.

Yes, very sad. Hope the man (only in his 40s, so none of the usual concern about an old driver blacking out etc) isn't one of Def2's members. Thoughts with all.

What I did notice, on the links provided but also when I saw it separately in the 'Rah-graph' was that Land Rover was mentioned in the title. Is it because it's well known or because there's a little 'chip' on the shoulder? I can imagine, had it been a luxury brand, BMW, Porsche, Aston etc that it would also get a mention, but Can't imagine the same had it been a Ford, Vauxhall, Hyundai etc. Just a little (tasteless) spice to the story. Indeed on a similar theme, I am always staggered at the number of articles you see after a murder or 'unfortunate' death (Avalanche whilst skiing etc) that the press discuss the victim's house value or cost of school fees. For example: Mr Smith, who's family lived in a £2m house in Guilford or 15 year old Sarah, who attended £12,000 a year Sevenoaks School......etc etc. What the f*** does it matter? The important (and tragic) news is the death of the individual, (in this case the young lady) not to headline a 'luxury' brand or gossip about their wealth like some nosey 'curtain twitcher'. Really gets on my nerves, really distasteful. The press have a lot to answer for.... Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

"The press" has absolutely no other obligation than to sell as many newspapers/magazines as possible and to maximise the return to its shareholders. Pretty much like Land Rover, in fact...
