The VIN on my 110 checks out as a 1999 model year with X as the year code. It was first registered on 15.05.01.
A few months difference can be accounted for by dealership delays, but two years? Any thoughts? 1999 Td5 110 CSW 1961 Series 2 88 LPG |

It's not uncommon for a vehicle to sit around for a few years before being registered. Could have been a sale that fell through. Mine was built Feb 03 and registered Mar 04

Loz - maybe just slow moving stock and sat in storage for a while?
Roddy - could the online date of 2014 just be a typo, and by rights it should read 2004. Cast vehicles usually get age related plates unless there are special circumstances. |

Supacat,
On the V5 it says date of first registration is 2004, but first registered in UK is 2014. Yes, the plate was age related being a 04, but the online check must be giving the first UK registration date. I was looking through its history there and it gives its registration as 74A673xxx - sounds more of an asset number or the likes than a registration number. I'll maybe investigate some day and try and find out its old in service number. This post has been edited by the site administration team: last 3 of VIN blanked out |

It may have spent it's first 2 years in Jersey as an example.
i know of a few cars that have a 'first date of registration in the UK' a couple of years later than the first date they were actually first registerd and on the road. |

I have the same.
According to: - https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ my Defender was first registered in 27/7/2009. - V5: date of first registration is 22/4/2004 AND date of first registration in the UK is 27/7/2009 My TD5 was owned by Lex Leasing and was leased to the MOD. It was assigned military plates from the off when registered in 2004. When the vehicle was disposed of in 2009, it was re-registered with civvy plates. I found this out by writing to Lex and also Land Rover. The problem I had was that the LEX service history print out had the military plate on it, which wasn't much use to me. I got both Lex & LR to confirm in writing that my chassis number was originally allocated the military plate on the service history. |
