Ouch! Very sorry to see this I do feel for you - based on a very recent first hand experience - although the fault was entirely mine. But the end result similar to yours and I have to admit it was painful.
I decided to go for replacement of all the damaged panels, new paint, blending in of neighbouring panels and replacement of any fixings and plastic parts for new ones. All to be done by a body shop that works with my dealer and is approved by them. Due to costs I ended up claiming on my insurance as well, which means increased premiums. Well, she will get best possible treatment this time, maybe with future dents I will start caring less Good luck with the repairs mate And a 'sympathy' photo of mine so you don't feel alone Click image to enlarge MY15 Aintree 110 SW - for sale - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82781.html MY16 Santorini 90 HT - sold |

Just got it back - took them 2 months to book it in and 2 weeks to do the job.
I'm not really very happy - what do you folks think please? Click image to enlarge The undamaged corner above has nice straight lines and no paint in seams. Click image to enlarge The 'repaired' corner has curved join in location of damage and is full of paint. I have not yet accepted the car. They also forgot the lettering for the bonnet... Do you agree it is unacceptable or do some Defenders have joins like that from new? I think I know the answer but want to confirm before proceeding... (easy option is just to accept it and buy my own letters cos I hate confrontation) Thanks for any thoughts everybody. Cheers 2011 Defender 90 SW 2006 Discovery 3 HSE |

It's pretty second rate, and you have a reasonable expectation that the vehicle should be put back to its pre-accident condidtion. In my mind a reasonable test is whether a casual observer can tell wether or not it's been repaired - I don't think they should be able to if it's been done to an acceptable standard.
It is blindingly obvious that you have had that repaired, and to my mind that devalues the vehicle and is unacceptable. Whether it is worth the aggro of trying to get it redone is another matter. |

That repair should have a complete new wing, top, side and front. And to be honest I cannot see how they could have cocked it up as they have done if they have used new panels which would have been a day’s works to unbolt the old and re place with the new wing, then a good respray. What they have given you sadly is a total rubbish repair and I for one would certainly not accept it. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

So they jump a red light, smack into the side of you, cause substantial damage and then get to walk away oblivious of any recourse? I'd at least be looking to line their cycles up in front of my Defender and slowly mangle them under my wheels!!! They should be charged for ignoring a red light and causing an accident!! |

Haha m33ufo... Naughty
Took this morning off as insurance expert coming to inspect the work - never turned up but body shop offered to let me leave the 90 with them... Yeah right! Edited to add that insurance expert turned up late to tell me it's a good job and defenders are all badly finished. Agreed to try to fix the pieces again but no replacement parts - the wife is a French barrister and I hear court calling - what a waste of time 2011 Defender 90 SW 2006 Discovery 3 HSE |
