Rear section replacement pipe - Exhaust
Does anyone know if you can get a silencer replacement [straight through] REAR pipe for a puma 90?

Already got a centre box replacement, but I think the cat alone does enough noise suppression, so looking to bin the rear box too...

Do they exist? Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Funnily enough I have just asked a similar question of the man shown beneath your signature. The rear section/silencer on my 2007 Puma is leaking and while I quite like the sound it does need replacing. Like you I have replaced the central silencer but with a straight through one (cherry bomb). I'd be quite happy with a straight through stainless steel pipe (i.e. no silencer) for the rear section provided it emerged at the standard position and looked standard.

I have an open exhaust on mine (not the one above) - no silencers, but with still with cat and DPF. To be honest it is still quiet, even at high cruising speeds. The motor runs smoother and builds up torque quicker without the silencers. A nicer drive, generally. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
2008 Td4 90 SW,
2012 2.2 90 SW,

I have no rear box on my 2.4. It was deleted however with the Griffin exhaust system I fitted a number of years ago. The centre box is straight through and the 'cat' no more.

Still looking for a stainless steel straight through rear section to add to an existing s/s front and mid section on my 2007 Puma. Thanks for the suggestions K9 and Wild Card, but both those options look a bit too non-standard to me where they exit with logos etc on them. I prefer the more discreet look - if not a discreet sound!

I thought that I might have found the perfect answer at Alive Tuning but was disappointed to find that they would not sell me the rear section on its own and were only prepared to sell me their full exhaust system.

So I am (and possibly the op as well) still looking - any further suggestions (or offers) gratefully received.

@K9F: if you say "cat no more" - did you only remove the innards or the whole cat?

If only the "innards" - any MIL appearing?

I only have the standard rear box, I have found this too good effect. Not loud but with a little bit more bass, turbo engines are generally quite quiet! However some back pressure is required too prevent over speed of the turbo.l was advised by Gary at Alive, regarding this problem and as a result have not had any issue. Very Happy Very Happy

Sadi you have a 2.2 which has a DPF not a cat. By carrying out either option be it total removal or smashing out the innards on a 2.4 you will experience no MIL light except perhaps the 'nuisance' code of P1103 which is a common code on the puma engine, 'MAF sensor higher than expected reading.' If you have a code reader you can reset it manually or it will reset automatically after a few driving cycles. I may get it appearing perhaps 3-4 times per year but I have a performance filter too. The DPF is a completely different ballgame.


The Griffin exhaust can be had with or without badging and looks pretty much OEM at the exit. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
