Go Pro, or similar?
We have signed up for quite a few runs out with the series 1s this year, one of which involves a trip through Snowdonia.
I have been thinking of getting a GoPro for the front bumper.

Now I'm not really up with the latest gadget must haves!
Are these really that good? Or would something else fit the bill?

Also I don't own a PC, only an iPad so not sure about taking footage from it and watching it back?
Can this be done with an iPad?

Any suggestions chaps... Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

I have a GoPro and it's brilliant but you really need a PC or laptop to get the best from the footage.

Here's a Youtube video of a trip in the Defender:

I use a garmin verb as I like the shape of it better, plus as I do a lot of mountain biking etc it shows up info like speed, heart rate, cadence, elevation etc on the video when I save it as it connects to all my garmin sensors and bike computer.

All very much of a muchness I'm on other than that 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)
2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r

GoPro are still the market leader, there are lots of cheaper options now, but the quality of the results you will get from a GoPro is hard to beat. Saying that I have recently bought a Sony X1000VR which shoots in 4K and is superb!

You may well need to invest in a cheap laptop if you intend to store the movies you create, as you will find that they fill up your memory on the iPad in no time at all.

Hello

I bought a 'No Pro' for holidays last year, I wanted to mount it to my road bike and do a lap of lake Annecy while on holiday and use it on the rollers in the winter months as inspiration.

Its called a SJ4000 and mine isn't the wifi one just normal, 1080p. Came with almost every mount I could think of. You have a screen you can view (which a lot of Go Pro's do not). I even use it as a car cam and its got some great underwater pictures of my daughter with the water proof case.

Amazed with it to be honest, for around £45 when I bought it, cheap as chips. I even have a mount now for my drone,

Google SJ4000 or have a look here, Mines over a year old so maybe even better now but I'm well impressed and its as good as the cheaper end GoPro as my colleague has one Very Happy

extra bits I just thought of, Its battery last approx 1hr 30 mins (however spare battery's are only around £6) and I have a 64GB Micro SD card in mine which filmed for 1hr 20mins during my lap of the lake Smile

I've found DC Rainmaker really good for in depth product reviews. He is a triathlete so specialises in fitness tech equipment but there is a section on his website for action cam reviews, including the GoPro and Garmin. He really puts the stuff through their paces and the manufacturers also listen to his suggestions for product improvements.

Good luck!

That looks quite good for the money!?
That's the thing, I don't really want to spend a fortune on something I will probably only use it a few times a year.
Either that or i end up running it over, or loosing it. Rolling Eyes

I know what I'm like.... Whistle

Cheers for all the suggestions. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

^ seriously for £45 it's very impressive.

For clips its great, I even did a run with it (hand held santa dash) and the footage is good.

Loads on ebay.

Its one of the few things I have bought and thought wow that's a great bit of kit and worth more than I paid !! I would be no happier with a £150 / £200 go pro.

Sorry to hijack the thread, I have a go pro hero 4 silver and have started using it, now comes the editing.....
I have been advised that i-movie is a good editing tool. Can this be used on a normal pc? If not, what do people use / recommend. ( have been told that the free go pro editing is ok but not the easiest to use).

Have I pad and phone but am worried storage will be used up quickly..
