There is a few wires that can be used if you wanted but by far the best is to run new fused wires direct from the battery. Pete. |

I have thought about that putting a small fuse box in like someone on here but can I make it come on when I turn the engine on or would it have to be live all the time.

The small fuse box in the battery box is by far the best way. You can have it live all the time or you can run the power through a relay with a ignition feed.
I dont know what model you have but the ignition controlled wires in a TD5 are green and white, the closest one to the battery box is under the drivers seat. Just use one of these to the relay and then the new fuse box will only be live when your ignition is turned on. Pete. |

Mick, have you consider one of these?
Twin banks of 6 fuses rated at 100 amps/bank or 30 amps/fuse ![]() Main advantage is has common negative bus bars ![]() HTH Brendan |

It really depends on what you intend to run through this auxiliary fuse box.
Each bank of 6 fuses is capable of 100 amps, so using both banks to maximum capacity that would require a 200 amp cable and for a single cable that would require a cable of 25 or 35mm2 which is a big cable. If only using say two third capacity say 60-70 amps per bank you could get away with two 10mm2 cable. If only using it for very light use then you could say use two 2mm2 cable as long as each bank is limited to about 20 amps So no one single simple answer really on number and size of cables. It is better to have a cable size above what you actually need rather then a size down. The person fitting it will need to work out actual size of cable dependent on actual use and err on the side of safety. It is a good idea to split any large current using circuits between the two banks of fuses rather then one bank having all the large fuses and the other bank all the light fuses. Hope that makes sense Prices in the UK varies between £31 and about £50 Brendan |
