Went for a look around the farm on this lovely afternoon and just had to take a shot of the old girl.
We had put in some grasses earlier in the year but due to it being so dry they have struggled to germinate. The poppies have made the most of it and the wildlife are loving it also. Nick. Click image to enlarge |

I thought I would just show you what I have been up to with the old girl. The clutch always had a slight judder on take up, then it started slipping in top gear so decided to check out the clutch.
Cut a long story short I have decided to give the engine a freshen up and I think it's over due. I'm no great mechanic , but enjoy a little tinker so this may test me a little . So we will see how we get on. The jobs planned are to give it a re-bore and replace all parts as necessary and also re-seal the gearbox. Should keep me busy for an hour or two! Snap!
Rescued this one from Inverurie at Easter, chugs along nicely and likewise compliments the Defender. Have fun with your engine. Cheers, John. Click image to enlarge 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

Hi Ian, yes that is the plan, albeit nervously, I still seem to be in the one problem fixed and then before long another problem is found stage but we've got plenty of time to sort it out, I hope!
See you there no doubt, if not before. Cheers. John. 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

Just a quick update ,engine starting to go back together with new Pistons , shells , main seals, etc, cam and followers have been renewed along with a new timing chain.
That's the engine ,but had a bit of a problem with the gearbox. Wanted to replace some of the seals on the the front of the box, and on the removal of the bell housing the end of the lay shaft fell out . Probably been like it for a long time but I need to get it sorted so box is going to a good mechanic I know who is going to replace the shaft and check the box over for me. Gearboxes are probably a step to far for me at the moment. Head has been refurbished and ready to go back on , valves have been lapped in and valve stem seals replaced. The job is starting to be very satisfying as progress is being made and things are starting to get finished , it's just a shame that work gets in the way and things have to be paid for !!! Engine all back together and fitted, had a bit of a nightmare after putting a 9.5 inch. Clutch in instead of a 9 inch clutch plate. Gave me some practice removing and re_ fitting the gearbox. All working well now
