Kielder Safari 2016 Report post I've had a few pm's from people wanting to know what dates the Kielder 4x4 Safari will be running in 2016. At this moment in time we only have one date confirmed which is Saturday February the 27th. http://www.kielder4x4safari.co.uk/?wpsc-pr...4x4-safari All the other dates for the year have been submitted and I'm waiting on the Forestry Commission to confirm them, which should be any day now For those that don't know The Kielder 4×4 Safari is operated to raise funds for charity. The Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team was established in the 1960s and provide an irreplaceable service that now extends to urban areas supporting the police in the search for missing vulnerable persons. The service they provide is invaluable to both the hill-walker & climber as well as the wider community. Taking part in the Kielder 4×4 Safari is a great way to support this worthy cause. The NNPMRT new website is now up and running, you can visit it by clicking this link www.nnpmrt.org Adventure isn't paved! |

Looks to be a worthwhile and well organised event, thanks for sharing...
Just one thing though... In the small print... All vehicles will be subject to scrutiny. Defects or modifications that may compromise the safety of the vehicle, its occupants or members of the public will not be allowed to take part. Similarly, any vehicle showing signs of oil or other fluid leaks will not be allowed to take part. So, water is fluid right... Therefore, all Landies must surely then, by definition, be excluded: because they will show signs of fluid leaks... Rog... The GREEN One... I went on one of these a few years back and although the first half an hour was great, the rest of the day was just a repeat. Bit boring I have to say. The part that made it special was when one guy in a 90 decided to show off to his girlfriend by driving into a ditch and out again. Trouble was he didn't drive out. Three hours later he was winched or dragged out. He never once got out to help! I learnt so much about winching that day.
Hope you all enjoy the experience. Merlin |

I appreciate what you say about it being boring, however it is not extreme off roading by any stretch of the imagination. What it is, is an opportunity to drive restricted forestry tracks in a part of the UK that keeps on winning awards. So why not come and make a weekend of it.

Sorry if I sounded negative. I fully support the charity bit. I was just telling it as it was. if you can guarantee snow and a ditch dive, then I'll be there!
