Is this from cold start or while you are driving?
If starting again after a drive, it tends to do that as heat from the engine is kinda transmitted into the coil then when it starts to cool, it will work as normal. If it's heating up then getting cold then heating up again: 1.) Has your cooling coil been cleaned? 2.) Are you running the old style thermostat that promotes icing? 3.) Is your heater recirculation valve fully closed? 4.) Is your refrigerant at the proper pressure and load? I hope this helps some. |

Check the coolant level. They do this if the level's a little low.

hi guys,
im sorry for the delay in response i was away giving a 4x4 off road training course. the heater seems to warm up and then get cold then warm up and get cold again. i checked to water level daily and it is not using any water so its not leaking anyway. i opened up the little bleed screw on top of the water hose where the heater diverter valve is. to my amazement it appeared empty so i filled with water and closed it again. i suspect that there was air in the system. i ran the engine to open up the thermostat and let it run while i openen the screw again. this time it was full and you could see the coloured coolant come out. as it was a steady stream i closed it again and has been burning my leg again to medium rare. i hope this helps others who have the same problem. do you think i have fixed it correctly? |

Hi all - Not sure if i am on the correct forum - however i have had a similar problem with my 2.2 Puma- i found it to be Heater/AC Valve unit. from the Photo i blocked it off using gasket sealer and two well sized bolts. The vehicle is now on its way back to the UK- however does anyone know where i can get this particular part in the UK at a reasonable price. In Namibia the part was in excess of 1000 USD. Luckily in Africa you do not need heating and the AC worked fine for over 15,000 Km's once the heating valve was bypassed- however in the UK its a different story
