Many insurance schemes will give you a new replacement vehicle in first 12 months, some even do this for 24 months. Shop around, it's useful to have, if a little redundant given the Defender demise.
Not sure what implications of it being classed as a commercial vehicle are; unless it just opens up the offerings from the broker. I'd want to know in writing what the offer will be when they can't get one. Will it be what you paid or the full retail price from Jan 2016? |

Thanks Supacat
Thats what I would like in writing as they can't replace it so don't want any "we can get you one secondhand or give you less than youve paid as theres no replacement" Think I might phone some of the classic insurance chaps |

Did you get sorted out? The reason they want to insure as a commercial vehicle is because the DVLA have all the celebration models listed as Vans rather than Estates (which al other Station Wagons are listed as)
I present cannot get insurance of any kind for my Adventure model! |

Are you sure the SW are listed as Estates?
I was asking about this when I first got my 90XS http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40014.html? |

I went with the site sponsor A plan who have put the exact model on the policy for me which is what I wanted.
Others just wanted to put it down as a Station Wagon and not a Heritage model. My own insurance wouldnt do it as they only had a Heritage td5 on the system |

Well it's now been over two weeks without insurance - still nothing. No one will insure me which is totally ridiculous. I'm 40 years old, with over 10 years NCD, no convictions or anything. Yet no one will insure my new car. The site sponsors haven't bothered to return two requests for a quote.
At a loss as to what to do. |

Done - but they need to call me back, after entering all the details so far it seems they are having trouble finding an underwriter... It's the same issue everyone else has - it's listed as a van but has 7 seats... computer says no...
I've been told by my own dealer that another customer with same model had been insured no problem with Autonet (they happen to be my current insurer who refuse to cover the Defender for me...) Insurance is a strange business - spent the whole weekend googling many different sites and sure enough everyone seem to recognise all the Celebration models as Vans not cars/Estates. Can't be specific to my car as I'm searching under model rather than Reg. Finger crossed A-Plan have the answer because if they don't I'm going to have to take issue again with JLR |
