Must be good, so go for it. Thumbs Up Laughing

If that's your main criteria, I'm surprised you get anything from Entreq - some of the english translations can be a little off also.

Think you did not understand, or rather did not want to understand, what I tried to say when printing those Chin@m@n ebay advertisement quotes. Doesn't matter, as long as Entreq are advertising in good old German it is all fine with me.
My Entreq plans for 2016 are taking shape, and with me that applies to others too who strange as it may sound to you and to many on def2.net, do have a excellent relationship and easy communication with Olaf. About time to start thinking about plans for leaving the Legend for a week or so in the care of Uhldingen-Mühlhofen workshop. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Where are you mounting them? I'm assuming you're after round lights?

I find the Speaker TS3001R very, very good. They are 6"diameter so aesthetically OK for roof-mounting. I personally think that anything larger on the roof ends up looking like Mickey Mouse ears...

The 4000's are awesome, and at 7" they look great on the the front of the Defender...

If useful, I can post a picture of 4x TS3001's mounted on roof rack.

Will be mounting to either the roof rack or fit a separate bar
e.g: http://www.paddockspares.com/pm765-defende...luded.html

Please do post some photos!

Thanks.

Branded or unbranded?

Identical looking = the same?

Certification?

Specifications and translations?

The big difficulty is that there are lots of manufacturers for LED products, some very reputable brands well known in Europe, some lesser know know brand names and then the unknown unbranded names.

I think it was the Firefly LED torch I looked at and the brand/manufacturer is a Japanese company. However there was about 200 different companies in mainland China who made Firefly torches. Were they all making them to the same specification and quality?

In Europe there are many reputable, well know brands, Noldens, JW Speaker, Truck Lite, Rigid Industries, Lazer Lamp, Vision X etc.

However you have to be careful, for instance there is someone selling Truck Lights on eBay which are cheap and a dead ring for the American made Truck Lite. The Chinese Truck Light lookalike of the Truck Lite is available for less then 40USD a pair!
Good profit margins there trading off a reputable brand name with a look alike headlight. The same quality??

I very much doubt that they are of the same quality.

Certification? In Europe your lights have to be E marked. If a lens has both DOT and E marks on them I would strongly suggest that they are not road legal in Europe. My argument for that is that the light pattern for DOT approval is different to that for E mark. Also DOT is an American, mainly North American specification which are LHD so I find it hard to believe that DOT approve will be compatible with RHD E mark lights

For a LED headlight there are 3 parts of the E mark The letter E , a single or double digit number showing which country had approved it. Then a 4 or 6 digit number which is the actual approval number.

Yes the 100 lumens figure per watt is achievable these days, however is that raw lumens, effective lumens or actually measured lumens. Vision X 25 watt canon (1st single 25 watt led spot light) has raw lumens of 2500 or 100 lumens/watt

However the Vision X 50 watt light only has 3200 raw lumens or 64 lumens/watt

Must admit when I see unbranded lights claiming very large lumens/watt, alarm bells start ringing in my head.

Specification/translations can be 'amusing' to put it mildly! However what is not so amusing when UK suppliers just copy and paste the translation without engaging their brains!

I think I was being generous, another reading, which your post above does not help discount, might be xenophobic verging on racist. If so that's a very poor reflection on you.
