The cons, hmm... Well, I guess it doesn't look as "cool" as the plate type guards and it doesn't look the "new type".

Hardly a balanced view, can you seriously think of no more for this side of the account?

Well, I guess to be balanced, the plate type, really protects the whole lower front (steering bits) and maybe a bit of the bottom of the engine. Most of these guards do not protect the lower half of the front diff so you still have to do a front diff guard to be sure. Some versions of the plate type also have built in or included recovery points.

Did I forget anything? (Not being sarcastic)

Over this side of the world we call them Wombat bars.
It provides a little protection for the steering arrangement if we hit any wildlife, Kangaroos or Wombats usually.

I've removed mine and fitted a full plate with recovery points in the mounts.
Given the rocks and ruts we can encounter it's the preferred upgrade here.
It also moves sand well in Victoria's Big Desert.
Think about the fuel savings I'm getting with the air flowing under the front diff too Laughing Cheers,
Kyle.
