They are the same as Genuine and waterproof if fitted correctly.
Pre ins spades would be useless and will corrode and get wet. And I definitely wouldn't advise cutting off the OE fitted plugs, which is why they are used to be plug and play. Your vehicle, your choice though. |

It not that I want to cut them off, but how the hell do you get them and their little rubber seals firmly into the back of the connector!

I doused the inside of mine with ACF50 as I fitted them just to be on the safe-side. Phil

I found that they slipped in fine one way and not the other. Obvious really but did you try flipping them 180 degrees and trying them? I replaced 8 units 2 weeks ago and it took me 15 mins. Phil |

Yes, I realised that, but one has a terrible connection and they just don't seem very robust!
Lights are great quality though! |

Ah I know the issue you mean!
I fitted the seals with the tapered end towards the terminal. I crimped the cable sheath tabs to include the seal taper too holding it in place. On top of that used a small screwdriver to push the seals in just a small touch to make a tighter seal and finished the job off with a tiny touch of super glue to keep everything in the exact position as fitted. Some people have also soldered the terminals, I personally didn't and have had no problems. If you've got a dodgy connector which they can be they are best binned and buy a new one. |

Undertaking the job when the temperature is up [ie warm] helps a lot, the plastic and rubber inserts get stiff in the cold. Steve.

That's the type Martin.
I found that to get the metal spade through the holes in the yellow plastic part was fiddly, and needed some teasing. As said above, they go in one way and click in, and the other way they don't. Yes they are. the come with connectors crimped to the wires. The connectors are not assembled as the wiring on the lights has different polarity on different models. This enables you to match polarity before assembly. You do need a small tool to push the contacts home and then fit the yellow moulding inside the body. Note that this piece and the contacts will only all fit together one way round. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

OK, just wondered as there was some mention of crimping terminals on.
The terminals should be fitted into the "bare" black housing, they will only fit one way around and must be "square" to the housing to go in. The yellow lock is then fitted at the end. This can be fiddly as you are trying to pass it over thin blades buried down in the housing. It should then be pushed all the way down into the housing with a prodding device (screwdriver).
