Had my boxes for years, thought I would share what I did. Was always sitting on them when stopping for a brew, so made and fitted a seat to the lid for a bit of comfort Thumbs Up

nice, how did you attach it? i tried spray glueing some rubber mat to mine as i use it as a step for the dogs, but it doesn't stay on. My 109 thread

I've only got one and to be honest it hasn't faired well! its got left out in sun and warped the lid a bit! it hasn't taken kindly to being stood on either!! My 109 thread

The seat is ply based, covered with foam and them material, then I screwed through the underside of the lid into the ply.
Had my wolf boxes for 8 years, all have extended lids and all the clips have failed more than once. I'm 18 Stone and they have stood the testament of time both in relation to the land rovering and things like standing on for things like painting round the house, knocking walls down etc. I think they are strong, and if compared them like the youtube review 'wolf box vs really useful box', the wolf box is stronger and sturdier than the Really Useful boxes and as for the 4 holes in the bottom, 2 seconds of a bit of masking tape and its solved. Also, if you put some window/door seal round the internal edge which you can buy on a roll for a £5 (will do 4 boxes), then yes it does become fairly watertight/dust proof. Ideally I would like them to be a bit bigger but they are not too big that you put too much in so they get too heavy. I brought mine 8 years ago with the extended lids for £20 each box from Duckworth parts. I can live with the clip issue as I have had my monies worth. Point to note, the extended lids are much stronger than the normal lids that come with the boxes. |

in favour of wolf boxes:
- the metal clips improve them no end. - they are ant proof if you block the bottom holes (no surprises in your cereal) 
- they are not so super attractive that you would worry about leaving them in plain view when away from camp (mine go under an oztent fly) - this isn't something I would do with an alu-tec box or similar. - they don't scratch stuff if kept in the back of the landy. - they don't rattle (and seem to suppress potentially rattle prone contents). cheers |
