PAS pump is constantly engaged/driven, is there any play in the pulley/pump with the belt removed? 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I might add its more notable when the temps of the engine are up. Perhaps this is because the steering fluids are warmer due to usage

Try bleeding the steering box ... If not sounds like pump drawing in air.

Hi, please don't ask the same question multiple times as you already have a thread with replies, I've merged everything together
Check fluid level in the reservoir, and whether it looks frothy/bubbly. It shouldn't. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

As you still having problems I would grab an assistant and a round file, placing the file against a component and the handle against your ear amplifies the sound, get the assistant to hold a variety of rev ranges whilst you check all components, just because they are new it doesn't rule them out.
Bleeding of the pas system is jack up the front wheels (less stress on components) engine on idle and go lock to lock, if this doesn't work there is a bleed screw I top of the steering box. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

If you haven't done so, drain the old fluid, refill with new, run and cycle it a few times, then drain and refill.
I'm not sure if there is a specific flush for it but it might just be in need of an internal clean. The power steering pump is very often forgotten on services and the oil can go off a bit. Otherwise take a video and upload it? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Thanks for the help. Ive narrowed it down by using a bar to my ear .
Its actually coming from the steering box itself. Im not sure why this would whine but it is. If i apply some lock to the wheels the whine decreases |
