As per title, any chance of the ability to switch off signatures?
Nothing personal about the members who bother to create signatures, but might possibly help the forum load a little quicker on my pathetic broadband speed...... |

Blimey! three years since i suggested this change and no reply from Admin? shame
Just had news that our local BT cabinet will not be upgraded "within the foreseeable future" so we are stuck with very poor broadband, the option not to view signatures would make a small l but significant difference to the enjoyment of the forum Lusimi, you never know we may bump into each other one day |

Sorry I simply didn't see it
I would appreciate feedback on page loading speed and if you spot certain huge signatures or those with very large filesize photos in. Does the page "stall" at certain points, or not show at all, or give you issues with only certain signatures? Although there is a restriction on the number of characters in signatures, it is possible for members to inadvertently link to enormous images which obviously do slow the page massively. I try to edit or remove these when I spot them but it's not possible to catch every one. Similar applies to avatars, although there is a file size limit it is possible to work around it and link to pictures (particularly animations) which have a enormous file size. You can use the post reporting system to flag up these with me, just use the "Other" category and add a quick note 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Yes, there are two members who have slow images in their signatures...
There are two issues, first is that they take a long time to load, the other is that the page seems to reserve a tall space for them (based on the width maybe?) which they then end up not using. So you end up with a blank screen where the image should be, scroll past it to get the the text below, then the image loads and it all whizzes back up the page again because it hasn't used the space that was reserved for it. Glynparry25 Click image to enlarge Thing is they're both really nice things to have, I like seeing the signatures it's just a PITA when you're trying to read a thread! I guess it must be deliberate because I've never know another forum do it, but here if you've got a thread with pictures they don't load until you scroll past them. So with bumpkin broadband I scroll to the bottom of the page to trigger the images to load (otherwise the page keeps jumping up and down, getting bigger as they load and then smaller when they use less space than they were allocated) then go to a different thread, read that for a bit and go back to the one with all the pictures. |

On the second point, it is deliberate to try and help page loading times! 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
