Pete,

You don't lose any ground clearance underneath the car, that's the same, it's the articulation amount available above the wheel that is reduced.

Most of the tuners do a performance suspension package of some kind, but to me that sounds like they tighten it all up and make it sportier, I want the opposite!

Interesting to read that comment about the Bilsteins making it harsher, whereas every post I've read about them say the opposite.

Can anyone else confirm this?

You don't lose ground clearance under the axles but you definitely lose it under the body .....

Hi Tim,

Just to clarify, I am after a set of 'Comfort Springs' for a 90, not a 110! But without the 1.5 inch ride height drop! Need the ground clearance here in Oz!

Any chance you can do these... Question Question

Yes, sorry, bloody English!

It is indeed the clearance above that is needed with the axle articulation often at full stretch when off roading in Oz.

I am at a crossroads.

I've enjoyed the Defender project (once again) but I wonder if I need to scratch the itch of a Discovery project.

I love owning a Defender, despite all their troubles, quirks and idiosyncracies, but there are times like my drive back from the shoot yesterday where I wonder if I have to right tool for the job (for me).

Perhaps I am too soft and too used to having a leak free car, comfort and quiet cruising with an automatic, softer suspension, and all the toys built in rather than there being a constant and never ending mod list to do.

Mate!

I hear your decision already is subconsciously made... Sad, but you know what the issues are... Rolling Eyes

Wash my mouth out! But perhaps indeed time to sell up, at a GREAT price... your truck is brilliant with all you have done to it. (Can I buy the black headlining off you... oops... I recall you sold the OEM on Ebay!

Someone will get a great Defender... and you can then also scratch the next 'itch'!

Boys eh! LOL, I am the same... as most of us are too! Rolling with laughter

Good luck with your tough decision anyway... Confused YOLO... You Only Live Once...

They were shockingly bad when they left the factory. You can double the cost by strapping stuff to it. It is fundamentally a flawed foundation for a road going car.

I have more than doubled the cost of mine in mods, it still drives worse than anything on the road and I have the full Alive set up.

It does make my RRS seem better every time I get in it however.

Love it for what it is, or get shot. It's not getting any better even if you spend £50 k modding it.

You need to ask yourself why you have it, you've done shed loads to it so it would be a waste to get rid. Big Cry

My RRS is for distance and my Defender is for local driving normally less than a hundred miles round trip. I jump in the RRS and just drive off, I smile before I even get into the Defender and then keep smiling in between complaining about all the tourists. Banging Head 1998 90 50th Anniversary 4.0 V8

Another good point, i gave the keys of our C7 RS6 over to the wife for her to daily so i really lost out on comfort and performance but i only average 10 miles a day so i dont mind bouncing and banging around in the defender. Andy

I absolutely WANT to use it more, but the fact is, they are not road cars, end of story. You love them and hate them at the same time.

I just had a sit in it, and marvelled at what I've achieved in such a short space of time, it's dramatically different to when I bought it. Part of me thinks that I should keep it (unless someone offered me a great price to part with it) and then again part of me thinks about doing another vehicle, in different ways. 2016 D4 HSE
