Good question! I too thought that only the RAIs with a flexible pipe at the bottom fitted with a front hoop.
Is it actually a standard RAI? It looks a little odd to me, possibly a different shape at the top? It may be that a standard one could be made to fit if you chopped the wing about and moved the RAI forward on the wing, but the bottom of the Spectre one looks very close to the bulkhead still. It is possible that it is a one-off (or atl least low-volume special) - its only blow-moulded polypropylene or some-such. It would be interesting to see a closer view of the RAI. Alternatively perhaps it is just a dummy and isn't connected. |

I do hope it's a real one, fitted for real as I'm looking at getting a roll cage and already have a dealer fitted RAI. Really would be great to have them work together!!

It looks like a quarter section has been cut out of the inner upright of the snorkle so that it's an interference fit against the roll cage. Maybe you could just turn that piece around 180 degrees and plastic weld it back in again?
The air intake has also been chopped quite a bit to fit. |

Oh no I see I am not the only one to see the RAI and go, thank goodness, someone has got one to fit with a SD cage...
Problem is it is a fake RAI... Just for show, a stage prop... Just got the email confirmation through from Mantec today. What a pity.... |

I am going to have to go with plan B (always have a plan B right?!) - modify one or design one... |

Does anyone know if they will be auctioning off any of the Defenders used in the film?

I had to scrap my LR RAI when I had a full roll cage fitted. A Bearmach one was fitted and doesn't foul the roll cage at all. Perhaps it's not a LR product!

It's so annoying and wasteful! Really like the look of the LR (Mantec) one fitted by the dealer and really dislike the thought of wasting all that money if I fit a roll cage :-/

It's a Bearmach cut down by 3" so the trees don't take the top of when on a green road.
Click image to enlarge Hope you can see the RAI. It maybe discontinued but this looks similar (bottom left on page): http://www.bearmach.com/books/Defender/fil...age42.html It is fixed to the roll cage with lugs that were put there for that purpose when the roll cage was made. The lights are beneath the light bar for the same reason as above. The lane is in Derbyshire, which is now PTRO for some obscure reason. Seems we were damaging the hard stone surface, the one that almost took my tow bar off Merlin |

There is a mod available to fit various RAI's with an SD cage, I had it on my last 110.
No mods needed to the snorkel itself. Click image to enlarge |
