Stuff I did today:
A little seal all around the front doors, which fills up the gap on the inside and will hopefully help stop errant leaks and eliminate wind: Click image to enlarge fits like this on the inside... Click image to enlarge Did some tidying up in the cab too, trying to keep it retro ... wood accents and coir mats? Click image to enlarge Also trying out a galvanised rear step, as my kids refuse to open the tailgate when jumping in and out. The "transformation" of your Defender is amazing......and the wooden "highlight" in the cabin is unique,...love it.
Now, to the IMPORTANT stuff,..this machine is a V8, so what have you done about the exhaust,....the V8 needs to be HEARD. So, a nice, big bore system, with a "straight through" muffler would be the way to go. 2.5" diameter pipe would be about right, or you could go twin pipes coming out each side at the rear, or twin pipes coming out of the existing position, side by side, a nice set of tubular manifolds would help too! But well done on your work to date, Pickles. |

Cheers Guys, much appreciated!
Pickles, engine is definitely on the list to address this year, as is big bore SS exhaust I'm pretty sure the "limiting plate" is still in the engine too, so that's going to be one of the first things sort out. Got to work on the badges tonight. Took the badge off an old plinth and sanded the plinth down so it was flat - then out with the epoxy.... Looks like a great upgrade. Where did you source the seal from? Has it made much difference? Build looks great, I particularly like the cricket ball gear knob Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

Cheers. Ebay special: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121672634989?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT It has made a difference, yes. The inward sloping top and sides of detachable door tops helpfully allow any drips straight inside, and rely completely on the efficiency (or not as the case may be - look at those creases and gaps on the inside of the edge of the door frame) of the vertical seal with the door rubber. So running this little secondary seal along the length of the door top and down the front, as shown in the first picture, channels these drips away from peoples laps. |
