We use a waste oil burner, but that's probably not very helpful for you.
If the space is badly insulated, whatever heater you use the space will cool down quickly when you turn it off. |

As I like anything free and always looking for wood / pallets I would look at a log burner
If its a garage attached you your house in the last house we had I had this split into two room and had rads installed, guess this means you would need the house heating on though but it worked well. I insulated the walls with stud wall and insulation around 100mm thick also though |

I would improve the insulation first. It will also keep it cool in the summer
