I currently have a Garmin in a '''''''''waterproof Rolling Eyes ''''''''''' case.

Basically its terrible, not bright enough and doesn't Bluetooth to my helmet. I don't particularly want to shell out ~£400 for a zumo and was thinking of one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ultimateaddons%C2%...eaddons+s5

Anyone have any experience with one of these or similar?

No idea on the case but I did buy a zumo for use on the bike/in the defender, let's be honest it will stay dryer on the bike than in the defender no matter the weather Thumbs Up 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I have a Garmin on the motor bike. A big out lay but well worth the £400 I'd say.

My Mrs bought me one of those phone cases for my iPhone for when I'm mountain biking. Only used it a couple of times and it seems ok. Seems very secure and a right ball ache to get the phone out, indicating that it'll be pretty waterproof!

I can't see it being great trying to use it with a big gloved hand though as I have to take my thin MTB gloves off to use it. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Yeah I'm thinking I might have to go down the zumo route, my dad has the 390lm and he's happy with it. I'd want the 590 though because aside from the bigger screen it can play music to your helmet too.

My Samsung galaxy s5 is supposedly waterproof to IP67 so it wouldn't be the end of the world if the case wasn't 100% waterproof, should I decide to go that route. It's good to hear that the case mounts nice and solidly Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I have had a Zumo 660 on the bike for years and it has never let me down. I have it incorporated into a wired autocom system. Zumo is used for satnav and MP3 player, also my phone is bluetoothed to the Zumo. Well worth the money.

The 660 has a motorbike setting also which makes the buttons much larger and glove friendly. It auto detects which mount it is in, bike or car, and adjusts accordingly.

The more I try and convince myself I can go through an alternative route to more I keep thinking a dedicated Motorcycle satnav it the way to go....

It's the way forward mate! It'll be more of an investment than a "big spend".

Fitting is simple enough and using it even easier.

I think the new current model is the 660, I have the previous one and have done well over 100k miles with it on the bikes and a few stuck to the windscreen of the 110. You maybe able to get hold of an end of stock older model (550 I think it is) for a slight saving.

What bike are you putting it on? It comes with a couple of mounting options. Bikes with handle bars are easiest (fazer, bandit, GS type), but mines currently on bikes with clip ons. Right now it's on my 2014 Kawasaki ZZR1400 with Kawasakis mount and I have a ram mount on my BMW S1000RR. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

I've got a Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200. Fitting it will be a doddle as I fitted my dad's to his. The screen setup I have has a mounting bracket ready to accept a garmin mount so it would just be a case of wiring Thumbs Up

I think if I do go down the zumo route then I'll get the new 590lm because technology changes so quickly that if I get a 550 or 660 it will already be two generations out of date so to speak.

What irritates me most is I have a newish garmin permanently in my defender, I don't really want to buy another one Big Cry 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
