The pin that pulls the lock peg in the front doors is at a nasty angle, its take very very little for the alloy pegs to stick, I have my fronts clear now but if the door card is not back far enough for example it will push the peg surround out causing a problem... The rears are ok, but the connected pin pulls the peg vertically so is much more effective. I would ask the dealer the take the door card off, fit the peg surround on and check it then, if it works you then know its the door card casuing the issue, they could then try to space out the peg holder that screws onto the door. Well thanks everyone for the info. Regarding the weather issue it's been happening since august and not just in this recent cold snap so I don't think it's temperature in this particular case. The door card is off and the dealer agrees that the angle of the rod that pushes the locking thing up is indeed awkward and the nuts and bolts/washers etc behind the fancy aluminium grab handle are also interfering with it. There is also apparently a lot of foam and stuff inside which is all being trimmed away as much as possible. There is also an issue with the mechanism right back to the interior door handle which isn't quite right. Hm. They are trying their best but the door card has been off four times now...I've suggested a whole new door or maybe just revert to a nice plasticky door card as of old..!
I think that's probably the best thing. I could probably help out - for very little money I could probably arrange a straight swap - doors handles and all. just PM me with your details (I was going to say I'm glad the dealer is sorting but I'm not for obvious reasons ) |

Thanks for the offer Caterham - only if your door card has a hole kicked in it and a flappy corner bit that never sticks down - for authenticity!
