Do defender owners get remaps done before warenty ends or do they hang on.

Got mine done within a few weeks of picking it up brand new but others wait, it depends how you feel about such things.

There are options to return it to normal so the garage wouldn't know, I used Pete @ BAS for this reason (along with quality of his work and have had other defenders done by him over the years) Puma 2.2 90 Stationwagon

Yep do it before warranty expires, if it's got to go back to stealers just put back to standard Thumbs Up

I also got a new ecu to go with the map from Pete at Bell,, so the original one that came with the Defender is untouched

After the 2.4,, could not live with the 2.2 without it Thumbs Up California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Why are you guys needing another ECU? I'm assuming you mean a phisical fit / swap over?
Mine which is Alive with ATRIC device you can just swap between standard and tuned map using the device.

So just plug in and swap over, mine you it's something I never do and never needed to do but the option is there.

Is the RRC a similar device? I didn't notice that we were talking 2.2's here as mines a 2.4.
I thought the two would be fairly similar bar DPF, of course there will be some differences though electronically and philsically.

Mine does too but LR can tell that it's been fiddled with apparently, unlike the 2.4 I had which they couldn't, hence why a second ECU is advisable if in warranty. Puma 2.2 90 Stationwagon

Is it about 160 hp with a remap without intercooler. Want things smoothing out low down.

There's probably a lot more to this Thumbs Up

But first - I've had the 170 AB remap and it's great Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pulls like a train - as in 4te plus trailer up a 1 in 8 and getting into 4th Thumbs Up I'm sure I can feel the drive flanges crying enough Laughing It's very smooth from tick-over upwards and no kangerooing. Once the weather starts to warm up I'll add the intercooler just to help it out a bit.

Getting a remap isn't always such a big issue to the stealer. In the past I've bought vehicles (TD5s) and then taken them back to the stealer for a remap. You pay a wee bit over the odds but the warranty issues then becomes the stealers problem. It just depends on the friendliness and customer appreciation of the stealer I guess.

If you get a replacement ECU and swap it everytime it goes in the stealer will be aware as codes won't be logged - also, if something horrific happens and it needs the big yellow taxi how are you going to explain no faults logged even though it's s41t itself?

Just thoughts and I'm no expert - as you can probably tell Big Cry
