That looks excellent fun. I'd consider it. Also get to drive over the 'bridge' and fawn over the slightly weird lead character. Monsieur Le Grenadier
I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Me too!
The latter sounds way more fun but a bit more impossible due the there laws out there. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197 Self confessed mileage hunter |

I belive that in Sweden this is an important event as people are not alowed to drive off road normally like in the UK and must use an approved offroad area - hence the event - it may look a little tame to us but consider where you can drive for 17 days on a new off road course each day ... It's not that it looks tame - I just prefer going on a journey rather than playing somewhere somehow.

Hi! it is pay and play sites, because we can't and are not allowed to drive off road where we want. its a law calling "terrängkörninglagen" (offroad driving law) so there are areas to drive off road on and each area has an offroad club. and each club gets half of the money, and some area are difficult some light and some boring.
I hope i was clear in my description. |

i been a good few years ago
great trip and great memories good campsites by the lakes good food and great folk been back to Sweden a few times since and ive got to say well worth the trip. pm me if you want any more info the event has been in lro and another landy mag or two over the years if you search im sure you'll find an old copy. since the direct ferries finished (ex Newcastle and hull) the trip involves a fair few road miles or a freight ferry (expensive)and often full weeks in advance which has slowed visitors from the uk if you decide to go you will get a warm welcome from the locals. |
