Click image to enlarge Silver Td5. Someone from here? St Anton am Arlberg, Austria. A couple of days skiing before the grind starts. Snowing but not cold enough. They have only had snow here since about a week. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

I guess Wildcard, that that just happened to be the very last space in the carpark! No placing and posing for a Def2 forum photo!
Raining here at any altitude lower than 1800m. Miserable . But, over a metre of snow down to 500m forecast for Mon, Tues, Weds. Oh and gusts of up to 90kmh. Should make for a fun few days!! Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

The weather is turning colder and there is plenty of snow on its way. The locals are extremely pleased about that. We just have to be careful as we left the snow chains at home. Don't ask me why😩! 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

I always do as well. Mrs Grenadier loves St Anton. We've always promised to go (I've never been), but when you've got as many resorts within 45mins as we have, why drive 8hrs? Oh, an excuse for a road trip? Why of course.....will get it booked. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Click image to enlarge Returned home, and now it is snowing in Stuttgart, too. Didnīt need the chains yet. I remember the first winter with my Tdi, when I thought I had the ultimate snow machine....on MTīs. It was very embarassing sliding around on those. The combination of the hard rubber knobbly profile and a short wheelbase was scary. Good winter tyres work wonders on a Defender. Cooper Discoverer M&S 265/75 16 do an excellent job. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Not used chains once in eight years living in the Alps and that has been in all conditions. Winter tyres are farking astounding bits of kit if used properly and M&S on 4WD used properly do an impressive job. In either case it is ice or the very light, very slippery fresh snow that's the most difficult surface. Snow is fine, and fun...... Monsieur Le Grenadier
